Risk disclosure

Please read this before you play. It explains, in plain English, how a round can lose money.

Trading involves risk

Every round in Spark is a trade on a real market price: a currency pair, gold, a stock index or a cryptocurrency. Prices can move against you quickly, and any round can end in a loss. Only play with an account you can afford to lose.

How a round can lose

  • The stop. Every round has a stop: a price where it closes to limit the loss. Before you play, the round shows its max loss: what it loses if it closes at the stop.
  • The max loss is not guaranteed. If the price jumps (a “gap”, for example at news or when a market reopens), the stop fills at the next available price, which can be worse. The round can then lose more than its max loss.
  • The cost of opening. A market has a buying price and a slightly lower selling price. The difference, the spread, is a small cost you pay when a round opens, so a round starts a little below zero. Some accounts also pay a commission, shown before you play.
  • Fast and closed markets. When a market is busy the spread can widen, and when it is closed you cannot open or close a round there.

Your accounts

  • Practice is free and simulated on real prices. It never pays out.
  • Spark accounts are simulated on real prices: the results are not real trades. An account closes when it reaches its max loss, and you can never lose more than its price. Payouts follow the account's rules, shown on the account.
  • Live rounds place real orders through the broker on the account assigned to you, within its limits: a lot cap, a maximum drawdown, the allowed risk levels and market hours.

What Spark is not

Nothing in Spark is financial advice or a recommendation to trade. Past results, yours or anyone else's, do not predict future ones. You must be 18 or over to play.

The terms set out the rules in full, and the privacy notice what we keep about you.
